Mike Delio's home run lifts Carle Place over Wheatley in Game 1

Mike Delio's home run to rightfield in the eighth inning was the difference in No. 3 Carle Place's 3-2 win over No. 2 Wheatley in Game 1 of a Nassau B semifinal series Monday. Delio, who went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, struck out five in eight innings. Augie Cavallaro had an RBI single in the first inning. Carle Place hosts Wheatley at 4:30 p.m Tuesday.East Meadow 3, Valley Stream Central 2: Marcus Kabigting's walk-off single with two outs in the seventh drove in Frank Ippolito as No. 1 East Meadow beat No. 8 Valley Stream Central in Game 1 of a Nassau Class AA quarterfinal series. Louis Cuello's bases-loaded infield single drove in John Felder with two outs in the sixth to tie the score at 2-2. East Meadow will play at Valley Stream Central at 4:30 p.m. today.

East Islip 1, Bay Shore 0:In the first round of the Suffolk Class AA playoffs, sixth-seeded East Islip produced the game's only run in the fifth as Joe Parillo singled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored when Jake Piacenti's sacrifice bunt was thrown away. Parillo also threw out runners at the plate from rightfield in the third and sixth innings. Mike Demarest threw a three-hitter with eight strikeouts against No. 17 Bay Shore. East Islip will host No. 11 Commack in the second round at 4 p.m. Tuesday.Commack 2, West Babylon 1: After Ben McNeil singled and advanced to second on John Iadevaia's sacrifice bunt, Ryan Quinn delivered the go-ahead RBI single in the fifth as Commack beat No. 12 West Babylon in the first round of the Suffolk AA playoffs. Ryan Doerschug pitched seven innings of one-run ball to earn the win.

Mount Sinai 7, Sayville 6:James Sarno had a two-run double in the third inning to give No. 7 Mt. Sinai a 3-0 lead over No. 6 Sayville in the first round of the Suffolk Class A playoffs. Sam Kessler struck out the last three batters of the game with a runner on third to earn the save. Jason Conti went 2-for-2 with two runs. Mt. Sinai will play No. 3 Bayport-Blue Point at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
