Rain, thunderstorms postpone high school playoff clashes

Four of the public schools' county championship games in baseball, a Nassau softball final and the Catholic High School Athletic Association girls state golf tournament were postponed Monday after heavy rain and thunderstorms rolled through Long Island.

All of the events were moved to Tuesday's schedule.

Farmingdale State College will host two Nassau baseball championship games with new starting times. Top-seeded MacArthur will face No. 5 Oceanside in the Nassau Class AA finals at 4:30 p.m. and top-seeded Division will play No. 3 North Shore in the Nassau Class A finals at 7:30 p.m.

MacArthur and Division each owns a 1-0 series lead.

No. 2 Ward Melville will host No. 1 Connetquot at 4 p.m. in the second game of the best-of-three Suffolk Class AA baseball finals. Connetquot won Game 1, 5-1.

No. 5 Shoreham-Wading River and No. 3 Bayport-Blue Point will play Game 3 of the Suffolk Class A baseball finals at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Bayport.

Top-seeded Carey and No. 2 Clarke will play the third game of the Nassau Class A softball finals at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Hofstra University.

The state tournament for girls golf in the CHSAA will start at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Bethpage State Park on the Yellow Course.
