Smithtown East wins in extra innings on James Meyers' RBI single

James Meyers' RBI single scored Shawn Kelly in the top of the 11th inning to lift Smithtown East over Bay Shore, 2-1, Tuesday in Suffolk League III baseball.

Greg Maitles pitched a scoreless 10th inning to earn the win and Pat Lagravinese had a scoreless 11th to notch the save for the Bulls (6-1).

Meyers scored from third on a balk call with two outs in the seventh to tie it at 1. Brian Weissert had scored on Chris LaRose's sacrifice fly to give Bay Shore a 1-0 lead in the second.

Dominick Savino pitched nine innings, allowing a run and five hits and striking out 11 for Smithtown East. Matt Lawlor pitched 101/3 innings, allowing two runs and seven hits with four strikeouts for the Marauders.

Newfield 7, North Babylon 6: Brandon Alberto's sacrifice fly scored JJ Lindgren in the top of the ninth to win it for Newfield (2-2) in League IV. Bobby Vath pitched three innings of no-hit relief for the win. Jared Consiglio went 2-for-3 with two walks and a run.

Brentwood 2, Floyd 1: John Heyder doubled in Justin Aviles and Santino Ycaza in the bottom of the sixth to give Brentwood a 2-1 lead in League I. Jason Espinal allowed six hits and struck out seven in 61/3 innings for the Indians (3-5).

Centereach 2, East Islip 0: Greg Marino pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts to lead Centereach (2-5) in League IV. Nick Kostulas' RBI double gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the third.

Mount Sinai 3, Miller Place 0: Brandon Bonnano pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts for Mount Sinai (5-2) in League VII. Matt ReiuSicart's sacrifice fly scored Jake Golino to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning. Hampton Bays 3, Southampton 0: Tim Frost hit a two-run homer in the first inning and pitched a three-hitter for Hampton Bays (1-6) in League VIII.

Baldwin 4, Syosset 3: Bayyan Ngala-El hit a walk-off single that scored Brandon Hoskins in the seventh for Baldwin (4-1) in a Nassau AA-I/AA-II crossover. Nikko Arellano's two-run double tied it at 3 in the sixth for the Bruins. Hoskins went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs.

Farmingdale 5, Hicksville 1: Dan Dreher pitched a three-hitter, allowed an unearned run, and struck out 10 to lead Farmingdale (2-3) in a Nassau AA-I/II crossover. James Boria went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Wheatley 3, East Rockaway 2: John Ryan allowed five hits and one earned run and struck out five in a complete game for Wheatley (2-0) in Conference BC. Tommy Vella drove in Matt Hogg to tie it at 2 in the sixth and scored the go-ahead run on Jared Rothstein's single.

Chaminade 4, St. John the Baptist 1: Frank Sommers scattered seven hits and struck out two to lead Chaminade (6-2) in CHSAA. Teddy Capsis was 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBIs, and Brian Goulard went 2-for-3.

softballLong Beach 1, Massapequa 0: Tonianne Larson scored on a throwing error in the bottom of the ninth for Long Beach (3-3) in Nassau AA-I. Larson allowed two hits and two walks and struck out six in a complete game. With runners on second and third and one out in the top of the eighth, shortstop Kelsey Larson fielded a grounder and fired home to catcher Meredith Fagan, who made the tag to keep the game scoreless. With the bases loaded and none out in the top of the ninth, second baseman Marisa Scandole fielded a grounder and got the force at home for the out. Larson struck out the next batter and then induced a fly ball to end the inning. Kelsey Larson went 2-for-4. Massapequa is 5-1.

Oceanside 3, Plainview JFK 2: Claire McNamara scored the winning run on an infield error in the top of the seventh for Oceanside (6-1) in Nassau AA-I. McNamara's RBI single scored Alyssa Hernandez to tie it at 2 in the seventh. Elizabeth Campo allowed two runs and eight hits in a complete game for the Sailors.

Carey 3, Division 0: Jenna Turato pitched a one-hitter with one walk and eight strikeouts to lead Carey (7-1) in A-I. Turato allowed only a fifth-inning single. Brianna Pinto went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Mikayla Morsesi was 2-for-3 with a run.

MacArthur 8, Calhoun 1: Jess Budrewicz struck out 16 in a two-hitter for MacArthur (6-1) in AA-I. Shannon Myles went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs, including a solo homer in the fifth to make it 8-0. Ashley Budrewicz was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs, and Jen Masessa went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Smithtown West 3, West Islip 2: Gabby Lorefice's single scored Tara Killeen and Amber Meystrik and gave Smithtown West (3-3) a 3-2 lead in the fourth in Suffolk League II. Kim Plaspohl gave up five hits and two runs in a complete-game victory.

Sayville 6, Shoreham-Wading River 3: Lyndsey Shaw's grand slam gave Sayville a 4-2 lead in the third inning in a League IV/V crossover. Olivia Kaczmarek was 2-for-4 with two runs, Jess Griffin went 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Hailey Comiskey was 2-for-2 for the Golden Flashes (6-1).Miller Place 15, Westhampton 9: Taylor Ludewig had three hits, including a home run, Sage Biamonte had five hits and Beth Whitlow had a two-run double in the seventh for Miller Place (3-0) in League V.East Hampton 4, Rocky Point 2: Maddie Schenck went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Dylan Scheider was 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead East Hampton (2-1) in League VI.
