The win on May 10 was McGowan's fifth consecutive shutout of the season. Amber Fogarty was 5-for-5 with a home run and slugging catcher Courtney Syrett was 4-for-4 with three doubles as this high powered offense kept clicking against Sachem North on May 12.

2. WEST ISLIP BOYS LACROSSE

The two-time defending state champs extended their winning streak to 36 with a 9-3 second-half run to defeat East Islip, 11-7, after trailing 4-2 at halftime. In the process, the Lions' defense, led by Kyle Carrick, held Tyler Begley to no goals and an assist. Conor Braddish had a goal and three assists.

The Trojans completed a second straight undefeated regular season, capping it with Thursday's 18-6 win over Cold Spring Harbor. Garden City, ranked No. 2 in the nation by LaxPower, has outscored opponents by an average margin of 11 goals. The five-time defending state Class B champs start the playoffs on Friday when they compete in the Nassau semifinals.

4. COLD SPRING HARBOR BOYS TENNIS

Rich Pisano and Tim Schneir defeated John Webber and Dan Seigal at third doubles, 7-5, 6-2 as Cold Spring Harbor completed an unblemished Conference I season.

7. ST. ANTHONY'S GIRLS LACROSSE

The Friars defeated Sacred Heart, 19-14, Friday to finish the regular season undefeated in the CHSAA. The Friars have won three straight Nassau-Suffolk CHSAA championships.

10. MACARTHUR SOFTBALL

Kristen Brown earned her ninth win and hit her sixth home run of the season to help MacArthur avenge one of their two losses on the season by defeating East Meadow, 5-3. Having won the Conference AA-I title, the Generals head into the postseason as the top seed and will host No. 9 Oceanside today.
