Smithtown West boys soccer tops Big 10 after Ryan Grande and Andrew Agunzo help it improve to 15-0

Long Beach (12-0) girls volleyball and Floyd football (6-0) were second and third ranked.

1. SMITHTOWN WEST BOYS SOCCER. The Bulls continued to roll with a 1-0 win over Half Hollow Hills East and a 4-1 victory against Northport to improve to 15-0. Ryan Grande scored the winner in the second overtime period against Hills East to maintain the Bulls’ perfect record, and Andrew Agunzo had two goals and an assist against Northport. Smithtown West has allowed only four goals all season.

2. LONG BEACH GIRLS VOLLEYBALL. At 12-0 in Nassau AA-C1 with just one match to go in the regular season, the Marines are primed to prove last season’s county championship wasn’t a fluke. There might not be a better trio on Long Island than Grace Rosenberg, Emma McGovern and Kathleen Verastegui.

3. FLOYD FOOTBALL A nasty defense and an offense driven by Mack ‘The’ Driver has dominated Suffolk I this season. The Colonials blasted previously undefeated Ward Melville (5-1) last week, 42-12. They are 6-0 and poised for a run to the L.I. Class I title game.

4. ST. ANTHONY’S GIRLS SOCCER. The defending state CHSAA champions look poised for another deep postseason run, led by a strong team defensive scheme. The Friars are 10-0. They meet Sacred Heart (9-1) on Friday.

5. FREEPORT FOOTBALL The Red Devils have beaten all the top seeds and are off to a 6-0 start behind QB Terrance Edmund and SB/WR Justin Lescouflair.

6. GARDEN CITY FOOTBALL The two-time defending L.I. Class II champions, are on a 30-game winning streak. QB Colin Hart and HB Trevor Yeboah-Kodie are unstoppable. And the Trojans defense is impenetrable — can you say three-peat!

7. SACHEM NORTH BOYS VOLLEYBALL Setter Jack Driscoll ranks second in Suffolk with 137 kills for the county’s only undefeated team. Fellow Flaming Arrow A.J. Fitzgerald is sixth in kills with 106.

8. AMITYVILLE BOYS SOCCER The Warriors have shown no signs of slowing down as they head into the playoffs, as they topped Miller Place 9-0 this week. Kymani Hines had five goals and an assist in the victory, and the defense recorded its 11th shutout of the season.

9. SACHEM EAST FIELD HOCKEY. Kristen Shanahan leads Long Island with 28 points (17 goals, 11 assists). Featuring a strong defense, Sachem East will attempt to win its first Suffolk Class A title since 2014.

10. SACRED HEART GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY. Maggie Maier continued her outstanding season with a 10th-place finish in the Eastern States Championship at the Manhattan Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. Maier ran 14:55.2 on the 4-kilometer course. She is the third-ranked runner on Long Island, according to speed ratings found on tullyrunners.com.

On the outside looking in: Port Washington girls tennis, Jericho boys badminton, Massapequa boys golf, St. Anthony’s girls swimming, Northport girls soccer, Lawrence football, Commack girls volleyball.
