Allen leads Bay Shore boys in AA first-round win

Jordan Allen had 18 points and eight rebounds as No. 13 Bay Shore pulled away for a 65-44 upset of fourth-seeded East Islip on Friday night in a Suffolk Class AA first-round boys basketball game.

Allen scored 12 points during a 40-22 second half for the Marauders (10-8).

Malik Jackson added 17 points and Karl Hall (six points) led a solid Marauders defense with four steals. Bay Shore plays at fifth-seeded Brentwood in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Evan Maxwell led East Islip (13-3) with 15 points.

Brentwood 66, Newfield 45: Brandon Smith led No. 5 Brentwood (14-5) with 20 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks and Devine Daniel had eight rebounds off the bench in a Suffolk AA first-round game. Brendan Piscak had 15 points for Newfield (12-7).

Half Hollow Hills West 64, Sachem North 43: Tobias Harris led No. 1 Hills West (19-0) with 25 points in a Suffolk Class AA first-round game. Hills West will host the winner of Copiague-Central Islip in a quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Davon Lawrence had 14 points for No. 16 Sachem North (9-10).

Longwood 80, Smithtown East 58: Tajric Boggs and Darien Davis each scored 27 points to lead No. 2 Longwood over No. 15 Smithtown East in a Class AA first-round game. Paris Parks added six points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds. Longwood (17-2) hosts No. 10 Whitman at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a semifinal. Smithtown East is 9-10.

Whitman 41, Bellport 39: Myles Jones had 10 points and 13 rebounds for No. 7 Whitman (11-7) in a Class AA first-round game. Kenny Lee scored four straight points late in the half to put Whitman up 39-33 and Brendan Daucher (three points) added two late free throws for the final margin. Bellport is 11-8.

Lindenhurst 72, Commack 53: Stu Warren led No. 3 Lindenhurst (14-5) with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Kamil Parzych had 23 points, six assists and five steals. He scored 11 points during a 12-2 run in the third quarter. Lindenhurst hosts No. 6 West Babylon in a semifinal at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Commack is 11-8.

West Babylon 61, Floyd 50: Matt Sullivan and Kyle Kube combined to score 18 points during a 26-12 third quarter for No. 6 West Babylon (14-5) in a Class AA first-round game. Kube finished with 24 points and 15 rebounds and Sullivan added 11 points in the win.

Aaron Wigger led Floyd (12-7) with 19 points.
