Arnold's 3-point play keys Commack victory

Nick Arnold converted a three-point play with 33 seconds left to give Commack (1-1) a one-point lead in a 52-50 win over visiting Lindenhurst in League I boys basketball last night. Arnold finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Marc Nemhard added nine points and six assists. Bob Balkam scored a game-high 22 points for Lindenhurst (0-2).

Central Islip 70, Connetquot 67: Brandon Hornedl hit a jumper in the paint with 28 seconds left to give Central Islip (1-1) a 68-67 lead in League II. Tim McKenzie sealed the win with two free throws with 14 seconds to play. McKenzie, Derrick Franklin and Reginald Augustus each scored 15 points, while Hornedl finished with 10. Ryan Reidy led Connetquot (1-1) with 14 points.Half Hollow Hills East 54, Sachem North 51: Chris Corso's foul shot with eight seconds left gave Hills East (2-0) a 54-51 lead. Tyler McKenzie scored a game-high 16 points with four assists. Mike Addae had eight points and 15 rebounds. Vinny Vacanti led Sachem North (1-1) with 13 points. Whitman 44, West Islip 41: Brian Jimenez stole an inbounds pass and hit a layup to give Whitman (2-0) a 42-41 lead with 32 seconds left. Jimenez, who finished with 17 points and six assists, hit two free throws with a second left to make it a three-point game. Myles Jones added 12 points and 13 rebounds. James Tucci's three-pointer with 50 seconds to play had given West Islip (0-2) a 41-40 lead.Riverhead 60, North Babylon 58: Rodney Rollins scored seven points, including two free throws with 18 seconds left to give Riverhead (2-0) a 60-55 lead in League III. Tim Clement led Riverhead with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Oscar Ward led North Babylon (0-2) with a game-high 21 points.Miller Place 53, Kings Park 52: Kevin Leyden scored 15 points, including a pair of free throws in the final minute that gave Miller Place (1-2) the lead for good in League V. Mical Boyd added 16 points, six rebounds and five assists and Tidell Pierre had 14 points. Mohammad Kassamali led Syosset (0-3) with a game-high 22 points.East Meadow 54, Herricks 46: Jeff Angelino scored 11 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter to lead East Meadow (2-1) in Conference AA-II. Westbury 66, New Hyde Park 58: Tim Quashie scored 13 of his game-high 28 points in the fourth quarter for Westbury (2-1) in Conference A-I. Chance Watson added 13 points and 13 rebounds.
