Bernard, Moorer lead Malverne boys basketball win

Xavier Bernard hit a three-pointer with six seconds remaining to give Malverne a 64-63 Nassau Conference ABC-II victory over Manhasset Friday.

DaShawn Moorer sank a three with 45 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to two for Malverne (4-2). Moorer, who scored 15 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, also had 10 rebounds and Cory Alexander added 18 points. Stuart Hicks scored 29 points for Manhasset (4-2).

Bethpage 67, Glen Cove 60: Senior Kyle Tracy had a career-high 42 points, including 14 in the fourth quarter as Bethpage (4-2) overcame an eight-point halftime deficit in Conference ABC-IV. Garen Spendjian had 25 points for Glen Cove (4-2).

Elmont 48, Westbury 46: Anthony Elechi had 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead Elmont (5-1) in ABC-I. Isaiah Walker had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Spartans. Lamard Herron had 14 points for Westbury (4-2).

Garden City 50, New Hyde Park 46: Matt Montgomery scored six of his 17 points in the fourth quarter and Dylan Sexton made three free throws in the final minute to seal the win for Garden City (4-2) in Conference ABC-V. New Hyde Park is 0-6.

Friends Academy 41, Oyster Bay 32: Tommy Costa had 15 points and Peter Kaplan had six points and 15 rebounds to lead Friends Academy (4-2). Jake Robinson had 12 points for Oyster Bay (4-2).

Plainedge 52, Clarke 37: Brendan McSweeney had 18 points, seven rebounds and three blocks and Will Crapo added 11 points and eight rebounds for Plainedge (4-2) in Conference ABC-VI. Clarke is 0-6.

Herricks 59, Long Beach 52: Osama Sarfaraz hit back-to-back threes to help Herricks (6-3) pull away in the third quarter in Conference AA-II. Shaan Rahi added 23 points and 12 rebounds. Farrell Gordon had 12 points for Long Beach (0-8).

Plainview JFK 64, Mepham 39: Senior Zach Amateau scored a career-high 30 points and had six assists to lead Plainview JFK (8-1) in Conference AA-III. Corey Maiorana added 11 points and five assists. Mepham is 1-8.

Syosset 59, Freeport 56: Matt Quinn had 19 points to lead Syosset (5-4) to the overtime victory. Jared Staton had 20 points for Freeport (5-4).

Shelter Island 68, Ross 61: Senior Dustin Mulchahey had 19 points and a career-high 23 rebounds to lead Shelter Island (4-5) in Suffolk League VIII. Mike Mundy added 20 points, six rebounds and six assists. Brendan Pettaway had 33 points and was 18-for-25 from the foul line for Ross (4-5).

Longwood 89, Commack 61: Darien Davis had 21 points, 10 steals and 12 assists to lead Longwood (8-0), which had three players score 20 or more points in League I. Dalton Suprina had 27 points for Commack (3-5).

Whitman 53, Central Islip 39: Myles Jones had 17 points, 18 rebounds and six assists for Whitman (5-3) in League II. Central Islip is 5-3.

St. Mary's 69, St. Anthony's 66: Kaleef Chaplin made two free throws at the end of overtime to ice the victory for St. Mary's (5-1). Rexton Gordon of St. Anthony's (3-3) hit a three-pointer as time expired in regulation to force OT.
