Collins, Gilbert lead Oceanside boys' OT win

Danny Collins had 13 points, including a three-pointer in the opening seconds of overtime for Oceanside in a 71-68 win over Long Beach Wednesday in Nassau Conference AA-II boys basketball.

Greg Gilbert had 23 points and 14 rebounds and Mike Buomo chipped in 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Oceanside. Collins' three gave the Sailors a 64-61 lead.

Vincent Moore (16 points) hit a free throw with seven seconds left in the fourth to force overtime for Long Beach. Jaymen Teemer led Long Beach with 19 points.

Massapequa 49, Great Neck South 45: John Cerulli had 12 points and 15 rebounds to lead Massapequa (3-1). Chiefs coach Marty Voigt earned his 200th career victory.Valley Stream Central 66, Farmingdale 52: Jerry Mordi had 27 points, nine rebounds and five assists for Valley Stream Central (1-2 Conference AA-I). Marc Augustin chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds for Central.

Portledge 51, Lexington 41: Ben Shapiro had 22 points and 12 rebounds and Christian Sbarro had 18 points to lead Portledge (3-2) in IPPSAL. Blake Martin led a defensive effort that held Lexington to 17 second-half points.

Lawrence Woodmere Academy 84, Kew Forest (Queens) 50: Edwin Sainvil had 20 points and seven assists and Holden Collick added 18 points and nine rebounds for Lawrence Woodmere (9-1) in non-league. Eric Dabak led Kew Forest with 15 points.GIRLS BASKETBALLCold Spring Harbor 49, Manhasset 47: Katie Durand scored 12 of her 18 points in the second half, including the go-head layup with four seconds remaining as Cold Spring Harbor overcame a seven-point halftime deficit in Nassau Conference ABC-III. Kelly Vassallo scored 10 of her 15 points in the first quarter.
