Devonte Dixon's 29 points helps Floyd to overtime win

Sophomore Devonte Dixon had 25 of his career-high 29 points in the second half and overtime as Floyd topped Commack, 78-71, Friday night in a Suffolk League I boys basketball game.

Nick Arnold (27 points) hit a jumper with four seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 65 and force overtime for Commack. Junior Brian Samuelson had a career-high 23 points and added 10 rebounds and Devin Burney had 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Floyd (7-3).

Floyd trailed by nine after three quarters and went 7 of 10 from the free-throw line in overtime.

Ward Melville 56, Longwood 51: Ryan Hart had 12 points and nine rebounds to lead Ward Melville (6-4) in League I. The Patriots were down 47-43 with 3:39 left and ended the game on a 13-4 run, led by Sam Stanley who scored six of his nine points.Centereach 57, Smithtown East 48: Chaz Fackler had 19 points and was 8-for-8 from the line in a 20-15 fourth quarter and Dan Nappi had seven points, 13 rebounds and eight assists for Centereach (2-8) in League III.Smithtown Christian 56, Shelter Island 53: Caelan McCabe had 23 points and five rebounds and hit four free throws down the stretch as Smithtown Christian (1-9) outscored Shelter Island 17-14 in the fourth quarter to get its first win in League VIII.

Southold 72, Ross 56: Junior Kenji Fujita had 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals to lead Southold (4-10, 3-7) in League VIII. Liam Walker added 23 points, six rebounds and four assists. Roosevelt Odidi scored 30 points for Ross.Hempstead 49, Farmingdale 45:Tidell Pierre (22 points) hit two free throws with 33 seconds left to put Hempstead (4-3) ahead 48-45 in Nassau Conference AA-I. He added six assists, 11 rebounds and a free throw with six seconds left for the final margin. Andre Morse added 11 rebounds in the win.Carey 56, Bellmore JFK 45: Adrian Denner scored 10 of his 20 points during a 23-18 fourth quarter for Carey (3-6) in Conference AA-III. Dylan DeMeo scored 11 points and had eight assists and Kieran Murchie added 10 points and nine rebounds for Carey.

Great Neck South 57, Herricks 43: Brandon Brown had 22 points and Dylan Forrester had 12 points to lead Great Neck South (8-1) in Conference AA-III. Andrew Fellus had 30 points for Herricks.

Long Island Lutheran 70, Cardinal Hayes 68: Long Island Lutheran's Chris Atkinson sank two free throws with 27.3 left to give Lutheran (16-1) a 70-65 lead in the first round of the SNY Classic at City College in Manhattan. Kentan Facey led Lutheran with 14 points, 20 rebounds and six blocks. Atkinson finished with 13 points and a game-high seven assists. Lutheran will face the winner of Boys & Girls vs. St. Anthony (Jersey City, N.J.) in the finals at 4 p.m. Saturday at City College.
