Devonte Green has been named a finalist for the Mr. New York Basketball award.

Green, Long Island Lutheran’s star guard and an Indiana commit, joins Thomas Jefferson’s Shamorie Ponds (St. John’s), Shenendehowa’s Kevin Huerter (Maryland) and Greece Athena’s Anthony Lamb (Vermont) as a contender for the prestigious honor given by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York to the state’s top player.

Finalists were announced Thursday. The winner will be announced in mid-March.

Green would become the second Mr. Basketball winner from Long Island Lutheran. Achraf Yacoubou split the honor with Mount Vernon’s Jabarie Hinds in 2011. Yacoubou went on to play for Villanova.

Half Hollow Hills West’s Tobias Harris (2010) and Amityville’s Jason Fraser (2002) also won the award.
