Dzus basket puts Islip up for good

Terrence Dzus' only points of the game came on a jumper with eight seconds left in the fourth quarter to give Islip the lead for good in its 76-70 win over Sayville in League V boys basketball. Matt McPartland (20 points) converted a three-point play with 17 seconds to play to tie the game at 66. Junior Tyler Murphy scored a career-high 22 points, including 10 of 10 from the free-throw line, to go along with 10 rebounds for Islip (6-3). McPartland added seven assists, while Tighe Oberg chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds. Neil Fishenden led Sayville (3-7) with 19 points.Comsewogue 67, Huntington 63: Zach Krischer, who scored a game-high 31 points, hit a 3-pointer with just under three minutes left in the fourth quarter to give Comsewogue (6-4) a 60-59 lead. Comsewogue went 7 of 9 from the free-throw line in the final 1:30 to seal the win. Krischer added eight assists and three steals. John McCarthy and Jeremy Rhodes each scored 17 points for Huntington (4-6).

North Babylon 50, Newfield 42: Ian Perez scored 19 points with seven rebounds and Vitchel Toussaint added 17 points and four assists to lead North Babylon (2-5) in League III. Jeren Hall and Brandon Piscak each scored 11 for Newfield (5-2).

West Babylon 73, Copiague 65: Kyle Kube scored 16 points with 13 rebounds, and Alex Reyes scored all 12 of his points in a 44-28 first half for West Babylon (5-3), which had five players in double-figures in League IV. Matt Sullivan added 15 points, Chris Doyle chipped in with 14 and Taylor Frisch had 12. Nasha Smith scored a game-high 25 for Copiague (6-2). Bellport 75, Riverhead 70: Connor Fedge, who scored a game-high 24 points, hit two free throws with 2:10 remaining to give Bellport (6-1) the lead for good at 68-66 in League IV. Armand Correa added two free throws to push Bellport's lead to 70-66. Bellport was 9 of 14 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Fedge's put-back with 2:40 left tied the score at 66. Diquan Trent scored 23 points to lead Riverhead (1-7).Lawrence 53, Sewanhaka 51: Tyheem Simon (14 points) made a pair of free throws with three seconds left to put Lawrence (4-2) up 53-48 in Conference ABC-III. Sewanhaka's C.J. Brown hit a half-court shot at the buzzer to make it a two-point game. Simon scored 10 points in a 21-6 second quarter for Lawrence. Eddie Robinson and Samson Bialastok each added 14 points. C.J. Brown led Sewanhaka (2-4) with 19 points.
