Consider yourself spared. I was going to attempt an even more egregious "Flyers can't soar agaisnt the Gaels" headline. It would have been terrible.
Anyway, I hate to sound like a broken record here, but last night's battle for CHSAA supremacy was pretty decisive, with St. Mary's pushing aside Chaminade, 74-47 to remain the only undefeated team in the CHSAA. Chavaughn Lewis lit up the scoreboard again, dropping 26, as the Gaels mostly limited James McCaffrey and Richard Zoller, as Chaminade drops to 5-1. Charles McCann was good for the double-double: 16 points and 15 rebounds.
It doesn't change the CHSAA picture too much, if only to highlight that St. Mary's remains the team to beat for the likes of Chaminade and Holy Trinity, who are both still very much in the dogfight. Interestingly, St. Mary's biggest in-league threat this season has been the mercurial but promising Kellenberg squad, who got within 11 (65-54) and limited Lewis to a paltry 20 points (you can go ahead and imagine the huge air quotes around the word "paltry." I'll wait).
All of this is to say one thing: Gaels still tops on L.I.
