Kevin Cluess scored a career-high 41 points to lead No. 16 Floral Park in an upset of top-seeded South Side, 79-77, Friday night in the first round of the Nassau Class A boys basketball playoffs.

Cluess' layup gave the Knights a 78-75 lead with a minute left, and Nick Jounakos (11 points) added a free throw with 30 seconds left. Cluess blocked a shot with two seconds left as Floral Park held on. The Knights rallied from down 68-58 entering the fourth quarter.

"It was a big win and I'm definitely going to remember this for the rest of my life," said Cluess, a senior and the son of Iona coach Tim Cluess. "It's an incredible feeling."

Cluess also had seven rebounds, four assists and three blocks to lead the Knights (12-7). Jimmy Guerriero had eight points and 12 rebounds.

John Cheslock scored 31 points for South Side (15-3).

Floral Park visits ninth-seeded Manhasset on Friday. "If we can go in and beat South Side like that," Cluess said, "we think we can beat anyone."
