Cheick Diallo, a 6-9 senior center at Our Savior New American in Centereach, was named a 2015 McDonald's All-American and will play in the 38th annual all-star game at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, in Chicago. The game will be televised live on ESPN.
Diallo is a top-10 national recruit who has narrowed his college choices to Kentucky, Kansas, St. John's, Pittsburgh and Iowa State. Coaches from all of those schools, except Kentucky which is still alive in the NCAA Tournament, are scheduled to visit Diallo this week. He is expected to make his decision sometime in April.
Last week Diallo, who is a native of the West African nation of Mali, was named New York State Gatorade Player of the Year. He averaged 17.6 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks for Our Savior, which finished 22-12 playing a national schedule.
On Friday, Diallo along with four other McDonald's All-American selections from the tri-state area, will be recognized at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn during the Nets' game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
