Parma leads Southold boys past Stony Brook

Kevin Parma scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half and hit a three-pointer with 1:13 left for Southold in a 51-50 Suffolk League VIII win over Stony Brook last night in boys basketball.

Parma's three gave Southold (14-0), which overcame a 28-25 halftime deficit, the 51-50 lead. Tim Pandolfi had 19 points for Stony Brook (11-3).Shelter Island 59, Smithtown Christian 51: Mike Mundy had 18 points, including four three-pointers, for Shelter Island (5-9) in League VIII. Dustin Mulchahey added 16 points and 19 rebounds and Connor Needham had nine points and eight assists. Dominic Damon led Smithtown Christian (1-13) with 14 points.

Mattituck 60, Port Jefferson 58: Tom Ascher (18 points) hit a three-pointer as time expired to win it for Mattituck (4-10) in League VII. Sean McGivney (19 points) made a pull-up in the lane with 8.5 left to give Port Jefferson (3-11) a 58-57 lead. Yianni Rauseo had 15 points and 11 rebounds for Mattituck.GIRLS BASKETBALL

Pierson 53, Port Jefferson 40: Sarah Barret scored 16 points to lead Pierson (7-5) in League VIII. Eighth-grader Kasey Gilbride had four steals in the second and third quarter to go with six points in her first varsity game. Port Jefferson is 3-11.
