Reilly leads Huntington to upset of Central Islip

Patrick Reilly scored 20 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter as No. 20 Huntington overcame a late deficit for a 56-50 upset of No. 4 Central Islip Friday in a Suffolk Class AA first-round game.

Huntington (10-10) trailed 30-26 after three quarters, but outscored Central Islip, 30-20, in the fourth. Devon Nelson added nine points and 11 rebounds and Kiernan McGovern had 12 points for Huntington, which plays at No. 12 Longwood in a quarterfinal on Tuesday.

Tim McKenzie had 22 points for Central Islip (15-4).

Longwood 61, Riverhead 51: Emmanuel Ferreira and Latrell Washington each had 21 points and Stephon Odle had seven points and eight assists for No. 12 Longwood (12-6) in a Class AA first-round game. Markim Austin led No. 5 Riverhead (15-4) with 14 points.

Brentwood 46, Whitman 41: Marcus Cureton (5 points) hit a runner from the baseline with 1:30 left to give No. 2 Brentwood (17-2) a 40-36 lead in a Class AA first-round game. Femi Olujobi had 15 points and 17 rebounds for the Indians, who will host No. 7 Hills West in a quarterfinal on Tuesday at 5 p.m. No. 18 Whitman falls to 10-8.

South Side 62, Roosevelt 54: Gerald Mitchell had 19 points and Alex Sorenson had 13 points and seven assists for No. 8 South Side (10-8) in a Class A first-round game. South Side plays No. 1 Lawrence in a quarterfinal on Tuesday at Oceanside.Gerald Mitchell had 19 points for No. 9 Roosevelt (10-7).

Great Neck North 58, Floral Park 50: Evan Doorman had 22 points and 13 rebounds and Alec Ludwig added 14 points to lead No. 10 Great Neck North (12-6) in a Class A first-round game. Richard Hawkins had 16 points for No. 7 Floral Park (10-8). GNN faces No. 2 Jericho in a quarterfinal on Tuesday.Valley Stream South 72, West Hempstead 64: Diego Maldonado had 26 points and Will Knight had 22 points to lift No. 11 Valley Stream South (10-8) in a Class A first-round game. VSS plays the winner of Hewlett-Wantagh in a quarterfinal on Tuesday. Tyree Glascoe scored 22 points, including the 1,000th of his career for No. 6 West Hempstead (14-4).


Farmingdale 48, Port Washington 33: Nadine Hadnagy scored 18 points to lift No. 7 Farmingdale (15-3) in a Nassau Class AA first-round game. Alexis Panariello added 14 points for the Dalers, who will face No. 2 Baldwin in a semifinal on Tuesday at 7 p.m. No. 10 Port Washington drops to 8-9.

Uniondale 68, Great Neck South 43: Aliyah McDonald had a career-high 28 points for No. 6 Uniondale (14-4) in the Class AA first-round. Daisy Xu had 20 points No. 11 GNS (8-8). Uniondale will play at No. 3 Mepham in the second round on Tuesday at 5 p.m.Glenn 36, Sayville 29: Meghan Haber had 13 points and Tanna Mohammed added 12 points for No. 3 Glenn (17-2) in a Suffolk Class A quarterfinal. Glenn plays at No. 2 Shoreham-Wading River in a semifinal on Tuesday. Sixth-seeded Sayville falls to 11-8.

Islip 73, East Hampton 41: Shannon Duer had 33 points and 20 rebounds for No. 4 Islip (13-6) in a Class A quarterfinal. Islip will play at No. 1 Harborfields in a semifinal on Tuesday at 5 p.m. East Hampton finishes 10-7.

Portledge 63, Waldorf 28: Sophomore Morgan Follett had a career-high 27 points, Tamara Simpson had 21 points and Ceci Mulry had 10 points and 10 rebounds for No. 1 Portledge (20-2) in the IPPSAL tournament final.
