Sehring's layup with :03 left gives Friends boys win

Kellan Sehring hit a layup off a pass from Josh Feshbach with three seconds remaining to lift Friends Academy over Locust Valley, 54-52, last night in Nassau Conference ABC-V boys basketball.

The Quakers (6-2) are tied for first place. Tommy Costa scored 10 of his 13 points in the third quarter to help Friends Academy, which trailed 28-19 at halftime, close the gap. Tom Sheehan had 15 points for Locust Valley (6-2).Syosset 54, Plainview JFK 44: Spencer Hazan had 15 points and three steals to lead Syosset (9-2) in Conference AA-III. Matt Quinn added 15 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Greg Rankel scored 12 points for Plainview JFK (9-2). The teams are tied for first place.

Malverne 68, Lynbrook 48: DaShawn Moorer scored 20 of his game-high 30 points in the first half for Malverne (6-2) in ABC-II. Moorer hit all five of his three-pointers in the first half, going 5-for-8 from three-point range. Ronald Spencer added 10 points.

Lawrence 73, Roosevelt 63: Eddie Robinson (29 points, 10 rebounds, five assists) went 11-for-12 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to help Lawrence (5-3) close it out in ABC-III. Tyheem Simon added 13 points and 10 rebounds for Lawrence. Geoffrey Gabaud had 22 points for Roosevelt (1-7).

Seaford 53, Bethpage 46: Phil Slavin and Robert Goldstein (16 points) each hit a pair of free throws with under a minute left to seal it after Bethpage's Anthony Santorelli hit a three to make it 49-46 in ABC-IV. Bill Kempner added six points and 14 rebounds and Greg Quinn had four blocks for Seaford (6-2). Kyle Tracy had 16 for Bethpage (5-3).

Oyster Bay 45, New Hyde Park 36: Joe Carbone had 22 points and five rebounds to lead Oyster Bay (6-2) in ABC-V. Jake Robinson added four points and seven assists and Josh Grant had 16 rebounds and five blocks. Faizal Hussein scored 14 points for New Hyde Park (0-8).

Whitman 52, Bay Shore 43: Myles Jones had 28 points and 14 rebounds for Whitman (7-3), which won at Bay Shore for the first time in eight years, according to coach Tom Fitzpatrick. Anthony Iakhuele added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Whitman rallied from a 27-23 halftime deficit in the Suffolk League II contest. Bay Shore is 6-4.

Newfield 47, West Islip 40: Maurice Hall had 11 points, five assists and five rebounds and Jeren Hall added eight points and 13 rebounds for Newfield (8-2) in League III. Nick Galasso had 14 points for West Islip, which slips to 0-9.

Centereach 51, North Babylon 39: Junior James Tuccillo scored eight of his career-high 21 points in a 16-10 third quarter for Centereach (4-6). Billy Garzon added 15 points and six assists, and Cody Lohsen chipped in with seven points and 14 rebounds. Ian Perez led North Babylon (3-6) with 18 points.

Half Hollow Hills West 93, Riverhead 55: Tavon Sledge had 21 points and 12 assists and Tyler Harris 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead Hills West (11-0) in League IV. Tobias Harris was under the weather and did not play. Diquan Trent scored 13 points for Riverhead (2-9).

Harborfields 67, Islip 66: Matt McLeod (27 points) hit a three-pointer with 48 seconds left to give Harborfields a 65-63 lead and added two free throws with 30 seconds left to make it 67-63 in League V. Islip converted a three-point play on the next possession but missed the final shot with 0.4 left. McLeod added eight rebounds, seven steals and five assists for Harborfields (12-0). Lucas Woodhouse came off the bench with 11 points and five assists and Brian Lindo had 11 points and six rebounds. Islip (6-5) led by nine with 4:30 left in the fourth quarter.

Comsewogue 56, Hauppauge 43: Zach Krischer had 18 points and five assists to lead Comsewogue (8-4).
