Suffolk Slant: Top 10

Brentwood’s gritty 78-73 victory over Floyd on Tuesday, sparked by Eric Perdomo’s 32 points, shook up League I and moved the Indians up to No. 4 in our latest rankings. In fact, Brentwood coach Anthony Jimenez told me afterwards he believed that eight or nine teams could win the Suffolk AA title this year.

One of them, of course, is two-time defending Long Island champion Hills West, which remains a contender at No. 3. Our top Suffolk team, Harborfields, continues to roll behind point guard Lucas Woodhouse, who had 25 points and 10 assists in a 70-57 victory over Rocky Point.

Some games of interest this week:

Monday – East Islip at L.I. Lutheran, 7 p.m.

Tuesday – Smithtown West at Stony Brook, 4 p.m.

Thursday --  Copiague at Deer Park, 5:45 p.m.

Friday – Center Moriches at Wyandanch, 4:30 p.m.

Saturday – Longwood at Floyd, 1 p.m.
