Suffolk Slant: Top 10 Players

Taylor Sowah of Miller Place moves into our Top 10 for the first time as the Panthers remain a game behind Bayport-Blue Point in very competitive League VI. Here is this week’s report on the players competing for the annual Sandler Award presented to the most outstanding player in Suffolk. A reminder: This list, presented alphabetically, is just one man’s opinion and is unofficial. Newsday does not participate in the voting for all-league and all-county teams.

Tajric Boggs, Longwood: Scored 20 points in an 86-74 victory over Brentwood on Saturday.

Darien Croft, Amityville: Scored 15 points in a loss to Miller Place on Friday and netted 27 points with seven assists in a bounce-back OT win over East Hampton on Tuesday.

Darien Davis, Longwood: Scored 19 points in the Lions’ victory over Brentwood on Saturday.

Connor Fedge, Bellport: Back-to-back double-doubles with 19 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Copiague and 17 points with 10 rebounds in a win over Smithtown West.

Khaleev Ginyard, St. John the Baptist: Scored 22 points in an 86-56 victory over St. Dominic on Saturday.

Tobias Harris, Hills West: Had 17 points and 15 rebounds in a victory over Deer Park, then sat out a victory over Riverhead because he was sick. Expected back for Thursday’s game.

Dantre Langhorne, Greenport: Scored 12 points in a loss to Southold on Friday, 23 points in a loss to Stony Brook on Monday and 26 points in Tuesday’s win over Pierson.

Matt McLeod, Harborfields: Scored 27 points, including the final five, in a 67-66 win over Islip. Also added eight rebounds, seven steals, and five assists.

Tavon Sledge, Hills West: Had 8 points, 14 assists and 8 rebounds in a win over Deer Park and scored 21 points with 12 assists in a romp over Riverhead.

Taylor Sowah, Miller Place: Scored 24 points in a victory over Amityville and 22 in Tuesday’s win over Westhampton.
