Suffolk Slant: Top 10 Teams

No changes in our rankings as we enter the final week of the regular season for all schools listed here except St. John the Baptist of the CHSAA, which continues league play for another week. While most of the public school league races are decided, there’s plenty of jockeying for playoff spots or higher seeds.

Zog's Top 10

1. Half Hollow Hills West (15-0): Rolled over Riverhead without Tobias Harris on Tuesday and had their high-scoring forward back from a sickness in an easy win over West Babylon on Thursday. The Colts conclude their League IV season with a home game against Bellport on Monday and a road game against Smithtown West on Wednesday.

2. Longwood (15-2): The Lions remained undefeated in League I play at 11-0 with a 96-55 victory over Sachem East on Friday, their only game this week. Their regular season concludes with a home game against Patchogue-Medford on Monday.

3. St. John the Baptist (17-2): Beat St. Anthony’s, 72-56, on Friday and remain unbeaten at in the tough CHSAA. At Kellenberg on Tuesday.

4. Harborfields (15-2): Edged Islip, 67-66, on Tuesday and lost to Comsewogue, 54-Thursday. Close out League V season by hosting Kings Park on Tuesday.

5. Lindenhurst (12-5): Walloped Connetquot, 84-44, on Wednesday. Conclude League II season with big on at Bay Shore on Tuesday.

6. Brentwood (12-5)): Defeated Floyd, 50-32, on Tuesday. Conclude League I season by hosting Commack on Tuesday.

7. Bayport-Blue Point (14-3): Easy wins over Shoreham-Wading River and Westhampton. Showdown at second-place Miller Place to conclude League VI on Tuesday.

8. Miller Place (15-2): Defeated East Hampton and Westhampton. Can tied Bayport-Blue Point for first place in League VI with victory in Tuesday’s finale at home.

9. East Islip (11-2): Defeated Smithtown East to stay unbeaten in League III. Closes out league season by visiting second-place Newfield on Monday and hosting North Babylon on Tuesday.

10. Southold (16-0): Beat Smithtown Christian and Shelter Island. Visit Ross on Monday and host Stony Brook on Wednesday looking to complete unbeaten regular season.
