Suffolk wins 1st Alzheimer's Classic

Longwood guard Paris Parks scored 18 points and was named MVP as Suffolk defeated Nassau, 103-80, on Saturday, Nov. 13 in the first annual Alzheimer’s of Long Island All-Star Basketball Classic.

The event drew a nice crowd to the Danzi Athletic Center on the campus of St. Joseph’s College, Patchogue. Part of the festivities included an Alzheimer’s Awareness Night on Nov. 10 attended by players and their families.

Emile Blackman of Half Hollow Hills West and Matt McCloud added 15 points each and Dantre Langhorne of Greenport had 14. Other double-digit scorers for Suffolk were P.J. Paige Copiague and Darien Croft of Amityville with 10 apiece.

T’Ziah Wood-Smith of Baldwin led Nassau with 17 points. Anthony Elechi of Uniondale had 13 and Ibraheem Shamseldin of Lawrence had 11.
