Twine scores 45 in Waldorf boys basketball win

Junior Landon Twine tied a career-high with 45 points for Waldorf in an 82-68 win over Lake Grove Wednesday in an IPPSAL boys basketball game.

Twine, who added eight rebounds and four assists for Waldorf (7-3), shot 15-for-24 from the field. Twine set the career mark against Lake Grove in the playoffs last season. He scored 44 points in a win over Portledge earlier this season.

Sean Proctor had six points, 13 assists and 14 rebounds in the win. Donte Squires had 29 points to lead Lake Grove.Solomon Schechter 59, Knox 36: David Mendelowitz scored 12 of his 14 points during a 32-17 first half to lead Solomon Schechter (7-3) in IPPSAL.WRESTLING

North Babylon 63, Half Hollow Hills East 9: Dan Clancey won by technical fall over Nick Terzi at 130 as North Babylon (4-0) remained undefeated in League III.

Riverhead 49, West Babylon 18:Travis Baskin won by decision, 6-2, at 135 pounds to lead Riverhead (4-0) in League IV. Myles Buhner helped Riverhead with a 3-2 decision at 171 pounds.

Smithtown West 58, Deer Park 15: Jake Smith won a 3-1 decision over Joe Bilello at 215 for Smithtown West (2-3) in League IV.

Sayville 30, Huntington 28: John Albergo defeated Duncan Merchinson, 8-2 at 189 to set the tone for Sayville (3-1) in League V.

Mount Sinai 57, Shoreham-Wading River 16: Chris Powers beat T.J. Fabian, 5-3, in overtime at 103 to lead Mt. Sinai (5-1) in League VI.

Bayport-Blue Point 42, Mattituck 19: Kyle Underwood pinned Rich Koch in 3:14 at 125 for Bayport-Blue Point (6-0) in League VII.


Newfield 15, Whitman 12: Aldrich Fung and Charles Mahler each went 3-0 in sabre and Kenny Brown and Kyle Hemte went 3-0 in foil for Newfield (6-4).girls FENCING
