Zog’s Blog: Top 10 Teams

This is the first edition of the weekly Top 10 rankings for Suffolk boys basketball. I plan to post them on Monday each week. Corey McLaughlin will do the same for Nassau. For purposes of these rankings, we will include Catholic and private schools according to their county of location.

Top 10

1. Half Hollow Hills West (1-0): Tobias Harris & Co. finally play some real games.
2. Longwood (6-0): Highest scoring team in county features a devastating trap.
3. St. John the Baptist (9-1): Defending CHSAA champs have some firepower.
4. Lindenhurst (6-1): Return of Kamil Parzych boosts the Bulldogs
5. Harborfields (5-1): Guard Matt McLeod leads deep, athletic squad.
6. Copiague (3-1): Solid guard play puts Eagles in League IV picture.
7. Brentwood (7-2): Once again, Indians are thriving after a star transfers.
8. Bayport-Blue Point (5-2): Big front line makes Torpedoes hard to contain.
9. Kings Park (7-0): Off to surprising start in League V, led by Sean McCarthy.
10. Patchogue-Medford (7-1): In League I, Red Raiders are another surprise.

On the bubble: Bay Shore (4-3), Hampton Bays (4-2), Miller Place (6-0), St. Anthony’s (4-3), Center Moriches (3-2).
