Ten Long Island players were named to the prestigious 23-man U.S. Lacrosse under-19 team after intense tryouts July 7-10 at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

No other region in the country had more selections on the squad, which will play in the 2012 Federation of International Lacrosse U19 Men’s World Championships next summer in Turku, Finland.

Chaminade and St. Anthony’s had two players each among the Long Island contingent. The Flyers chosen were attack Matt Kavanagh and midfield Sean Mahon. The Friars selected were midfield Charlie Raffa and defense Greg Danseglio.
