Huggard nets the winner for MacArthur

Trevor Huggard scored the eventual game-winner on an assist from Brendan Smith in MacArthur's 9-8 win at East Meadow Wednesday in Conference I boys lacrosse. Huggard's goal gave MacArthur (5-3) a 9-7 lead with 3:34 to play. Tom McAndrew scored four goals, Jamie McAndrew added a goal and four assists. Huggard and Gerard Cunningham each scored two goals, Brendan Smith had three assists, and Ryan Purcell made 15 saves. Dan Wood made 13 saves for East Meadow (4-5).

Farmingdale 13, Hicksville 4:Korey Hendrickson scored three of his four goals in a 6-1 first half for Farmingdale (7-1). He also had an assist. Sal Tuttle added a goal and three assists, and Brian Prendergast had two goals and one assist. Pat McCormick scored two goals for Hicksville (6-3).

Long Beach 13, Syosset 7: Sophomore James Forkin scored a career high six goals for Long Beach (6-2), which led 6-2 at halftime. Tom Hamlet added two goals, and Mike Rourke made 10 saves. Ryan Hunter led Syosset (6-2) with two goals.

Uniondale 14, Freeport 13: Sterling Waters scored his second goal with 4:00 left to give Uniondale (3-5) a 14-9 lead. Freeport answered with four goals, including Evan Lapice's fourth with 2:10 to play to make it 14-13. Deon Ellis led Uniondale with three goals and two assists, and Antoine Williams scored three goals. Justin Staton had three goals and four assists for Freeport (2-7).

Friends Academy 9, Locust Valley 5: Quentin Dellafera scored two goals for Friends Academy (5-1) in Conference IV. Zack Westermann added two goals, and Garry Dellafera had a goal and an assist. Joe Jacobi led Locust Valley (2-4) with two goals.

Bayport-Blue Point 10, Mount Sinai 9: Adam Berlin scored his second goal with 7:00 left to give Bayport-Blue Point (9-3) a 10-5 lead in Division II. Brian White scored six goals, and Brian Ward added two goals and three assists. Mike DeBlasio had three assists, and Ralph Fabiani made nine saves. Mike Faughan led Mount Sinai (7-5) with five goals.

Islip 13, Shoreham-Wading River 11: Senior Joe Sciara scored a career high six goals with two assists for Islip (10-2). He also won 75 percent of his faceoffs. Kieran Mullins scored three goals, John Maher added a goal and three assists, and Kevin Rafferty made 11 saves. Connor Drost led Shoreham-Wading River (10-2) with four goals and two assists.


Sewanhaka 11, Carey 9: Marianela Gimenez had two goals and an assist for Sewanhaka (6-1) in Conference B-III. Katlyn Dempsey, Lindsy Montoya, Sabrina Orologio and Jackie Vasquez each scored two goals, and Victoria Casso made 10 saves. Daina Catanese led Carey (5-2) with four goals and an assist.

West Islip 16, West Babylon 14: Senior Loren Ziegler scored a career high seven goals with one assist for West Islip (10-3) in Division I. Erin Collins added a goal and five assists, and Kate Beier, Erin Byrnes and Lindsay Darrell each scored two goals. Christina Esposito led West Babylon (4-8) with five goals and four assists.


Chaminade 7, St. John the Baptist 0:J.T. Esposito defeated Devin Ziccardi, 6-2, 7-6 (5), at first singles for No. 2 Chaminade (12-2) in the CHSAA semifinals. Mike Lem and Rob Buetti beat Jon Campo and Greg Olsen, 6-4, 7-5, at second doubles. Chaminade will play No. 1 St. Anthony's at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow at Hofstra in the final.St. Anthony's 7, Kellenberg 0: John D'Alessandro won at first singles for No. 1 St. Anthony's (12-1).


Holy Trinity 7, St. Dominic 0: Chris Lambrou shot a 1-under 35 on the front nine at Eisenhower Blue for Holy Trinity (6-4) in CHSAA.
