West Islip is No. 1

It’s a little early for high school lacrosse action on Long Island, but it’s not too early to start playing The Ratings Game. Inside Lacrosse recently released its preseason Top 25 and L.I. is very well-represented.

West Islip, last spring’s Class A New York state champion, is ranked No. 1 in the nation, led by IL’s No. 1-ranked player in the nation, North Carolina-bound Nicky Galasso, and Towson-bound Andrew Hodgson.

St. Anthony’s, led by Princeton-bound Tom Schreiber, is ranked fourth. Other ranked L.I. schools are No. 7 Garden City, No. 11 Chaminade, No. 16 Ward Melville and No. 23 Smithtown West.
