Hicksville boys soccer state updates
Hicksville (16-1-2) is playing Shenendehowa (19-1) in the state Class AA semifinals at Middletown HS. Check here for updates.
Not much going on so far. Neither team has had a great scoring opportunity. We're 15 minutes in and scoreless.
Shenendehowa has a great chance off a cross, but Philip Barrett kicks it over the net with a clean look in front with 23 minutes left in the first half.
Once again, Hicksville's height and physical play is an advantage and results in a goal. A loose ball in front is put in by James Myers. The Comets lead 1-0 with 11:49 left in the first half.
Robert Aranov has a chance to score for Hicksville, but Spencer Juco makes the save.
A potential breakaway is thwarted by Hicksville's Christian Bonilla. A terrific play to get back with three minutes left. Seconds later, Shenendehowa has a great opportunity with a clean look, but the ball was shot over the goal.

In the other semifinal, Webster Schroeder defeated Newburgh Academy, 3-1.
Hicksville begins the half with a couple of good scoring chances. Peter DiLorenzo scores on one with 28:18 left in regulation to give the Comets a 2-0 lead.
Hicksville has played very well in the half. Ten minutes left in the second half. Ralph Hoyos added a goal with 2:21 left.
