A lightning delay that began with 31:07 left in a scoreless Nassau boys soccer Class AA semifinal between Massapequa and Syosset led to a suspended game and the cancellation of the following match scheduled between No. 2 Hicksville and No. 3 Calhoun at Adelphi on Sunday.

Officials suspended the game at 7 p.m. after a delay lasting one hour. The first game will be resumed Monday at a location and time expected to be announced Monday morning, coaches and officials said. The second game will follow.

Massapequa and Syosset kicked off three minutes behind its scheduled 5 p.m. start after heavy rain and strong wind moved into the area 15 minutes earlier. The rain came and went during a first half that generated chances for each side, but no goals. The showers picked up again and the officials spotted lightning, leading to the state athletic association’s required half hour delay from the last sighting.
