Tim Parker was named the Gatorade New York Boys Soccer Player of the Year. The Hicksville senior had 25 goals and eight assists and led the Comets to the Nassau Class AA semifinals. The team was undefeated before losing to Farmingdale in penalty kicks in the semifinals.
The 5-10 Parker, who will play at St. John's, played all over the field for the Comets, including defender and forward. Parker, Newsday's Player of the Year, was an All-American selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and he is on the roster of the U.S. Soccer Federation Under-18 men’s national team. He was also named New York State Player of the Year and a Second Team ESPN RISE All-American.
The Gatorade award recognizes athletic excellence and high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field. Parker has an A-minus average and volunteered locally on behalf of the Special Olympics, youth soccer programs and an area soup kitchen.
