Turner gives Lutheran boys spot in IPPSAL final

Ryan Turner scored two goals, including the game winner for Long Island Lutheran as it defeated Our Savior New American, 3-2, Wednesday in an IPPSAL boys soccer semifinal. Turner's goal in the 42nd minute gave Lutheran (12-0-1) a 3-1 lead. Christos Loizou also scored. Lutheran will play Waldorf in the final at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Portledge.

Waldorf 4, Portledge 0: Senior Mike Escribano scored all four goals with his brother, Peter, assisting on the first two, to lead Waldorf (10-1-2) in the other IPPSAL semifinal. Cristian Longoria (nine saves) and Max Spellman (three) combined to record the team's seventh shutout of the season. Portledge goalkeeper Zach Pilson had 16 saves in the loss.

Glenn 1, Bayport-Blue Point 0: Jean Delance scored the winner off a pass from Dela Agbotse in the 60th minute to lead Glenn (15-1) in Suffolk League VI. Kevin Flores made two saves in his 10th shutout and Mike Falkenburgh had 16 stops for Bayport-Blue Point.

Pierson/Bridgehampton 1, Smithtown Christian 0: Oscar Reyes scored at 36:31 of the second half for Pierson/Bridgehampton (8-2-2) in League VIII. Tyler Gilbride made six saves in the shutout.

Sayville 2, Eastport-South Manor 0: Cory Santangelo and Robert Hammerle scored as League V champion Sayville finished 11-1-0 in league play. Sayville is 14-1-1 overall with 15 shutouts in 16 games.GIRLS SOCCER

Centereach 1, Newfield 0: Lauren Young's stop on a breakaway with five seconds left in regulation saved the game for Centereach (3-6-2) in League III. Young made all four of her saves in the second half. Erin Doherty scored the winner 10 minutes into the second half.

Sachem North 2, Bay Shore 1: Ashlee Thompson scored on a breakaway off a feed from Rachel LaSala with 2:20 left in the game to win it for Sachem North (7-4-1) in League II. Thompson added an assist.

Patchogue-Medford 3, Commack 2: Kendel Collins scored her second goal off a pass from Michelle Kawko with 33 minutes remaining to give Patchogue-Medford (6-6) a 3-1 lead in League I. Senior Kira Sherwood scored her first varsity goal at 28:37 in the first half. Kelly Semon made 12 saves.

North Babylon 3, Bellport 0: Casey Filippone scored the first two goals of the game and Emily Ude recorded an assist on all three goals for North Babylon (9-2-1) in League IV. Kelly Heimerle made eight saves in her ninth shutout and her sixth straight in league.Our Lady of Mercy 7, St. Mary's 1: Shannon Brady recorded her second hat trick of the season and Courtney Chmil and Stefania Pia each scored two goals to lead Our Lady of Mercy (8-5-1) in a CHSAA semifinal. Our Lady of Mercy goalkeeper Clare Miller had 12 saves. Our Lady of Mercy will host the winner of the Archbishop Molloy/Mary Louis Academy game Friday for the CSHAA championship.Valley Stream North 3, Mineola 0: Freshman Samantha Scaglione notched her first hat trick of the year for VSN (3-8-1) in Nassau Conference VII. Dana Morgante had four saves in her fourth shutout of the season.Wantagh 1, Roslyn 1: April Iannetta scored with 6:24 left to tie it for Wantagh (5-7-1) in Conference IV. Maryann Combs scored off a pass from Isabella Neil at 18:27 of the first half for Roslyn.
