Cella's goal wins it for Connetquot

Mike Cella scored in the 55th minute to lead Connetquot (7-6) to a 1-0 win over visiting Half Hollow Hills East in Suffolk League II boys soccer Tuesday. Chris Goudoros made nine saves in his first solo shutout of the season. Jordan Gross made seven saves for Hills East (9-3-1).

Ward Melville 1, Commack 1: Michael Biondo scored with 29 minutes remaining in the second half to tie the game for Commack (11-1-1) in League I. Christian Marcel scored 2:30 into the game on an assist from Alex Wolfe to give Ward Melville (9-2-2) the lead.

Smithtown West 1, North Babylon 0: Craig Jahnke scored off a feed from Edward Viscount 7:00 into the second half for Smithtown West (11-0-2) in League III. Brian Hickey made four saves for his eighth shutout of the season. Cody Gardner made five saves for North Babylon (4-9).

Half Hollow Hills West 5, Comsewogue 0: Senior Frantz Backer and sophomore Fred Fils-Aime each scored their first varsity goals for Half Hollow Hills West (12-0), which clinched an undefeated regular season in League IV. Hills West has now won 30 straight regular-season games. Comsewogue is 7-4.Wantagh 4, Westbury 1: James Graham scored in the 17th minute off a feed from Sean DeVito to give Wantagh (8-1-3) a 3-0 lead in Conference IV. Michael Rumel had a goal and Grady Weber also scored for Wantagh, which clinched the conference title. Westbury is 0-11-1. Manhasset 0, Lynbrook 0: Max Egan (five saves) and Brandon Jagerman (two) combined for the shutout for Manhasset (10-0-2) in Conference VI. Evan Foley and Jake Oelbaum each made a save to combine for the shutout for Lynbrook (8-1-3).

GIRLS SOCCER

West Hempstead 1, Valley Stream South 0: Taylor Freiermuth scored on a rebound of Ashley Merrill's shot off the post in the 31st minute for West Hempstead (8-2-2) in Conference VI. Kim Velazquez made six saves for her sixth shutout of the season. Valley Stream South is 7-3-2.Islip 1, Deer Park 0: Katie Hyland scored 18 minutes into the second half on a corner kick ball from Amanda Buck for Islip (6-4-1) in League V. Tara Mackey made nine saves for her third shutout. Larissa Zambelli made six saves in the first half and Sarah Shilstone also another six in the second half for Deer Park (9-1-1).Huntington 3, Eastport-South Manor 2: Emilee Puglese scored her second goal of the game with 5:37 left in the first overtime on a rebound of Cristina Badalamenti's shot for Huntington (5-5-1). Kerrie McKeever's goal with 3:34 left in the second half tied the game at 2 for Eastport-South Manor (2-6-3). Emma Hayes-Hurley also scored for Huntington.

Shoreham-Wading River 1, East Hampton 0: Kerri Clark scored on a cross from Hannah Miller in the 18th minute for Shoreham-Wading River (8-3) in League VI. Kelly Wynkoop made five saves for her fifth shutout.

FIELD HOCKEY

Connetquot 3, West Islip 1: Amanda Schoenfeld scored two goals for Connetquot (9-5) in Division II. Meghan Happer added a goal and Amanda Fortgang made nine saves for Connetquot, which qualified for the playoffs. Alyssa Mangieri scored for West Islip (8-6).Sayville 5, West Babylon 3: Olivia Cabral scored the second of two goals in a four-minute span in the first half to give Sayville (15-0) a 3-1 halftime lead.

Sewanhaka 3, Oyster Bay 1: Senior Michelle Mongiello tied her career high with three goals for Sewanhaka (6-7-1) in Conference II.
