The Thunderbirds have yet to drop a set in their quest for not just a county title, but a state Class AA title as well. Mackenzie Cole had 17 kills in a sweep of Lindenhurst on Sept. 25.

2. EASTPORT/SOUTH MANOR FIELD HOCKEY

The Sharks remain undefeated at 10-0 and have not allowed a goal in seven straight games. With solid defense, Eastport-South Manor is looking to return to the Suffolk final. Kasey Choma leads Long Island with 15 goals.

3. NORTHPORT GIRLS SOCCER

The defending Suffolk Class AA champions have outscored opponents, 52-3. They are 9-0 to start the season, led by Emily McNelis (10 goals, 11 assists), Victoria Colatosti (13 goals, three assists) and Juliana Conforti (five goals, five assists).

4. EASTPORT/SOUTH MANOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Now the undisputed top boys volleyball team on Long Island, the Sharks won in five sets against Smithtown East behind Brennen Brandow’s 15 kills and five blocks.

5. COMMACK BOYS SOCCER

The Cougars (9-0-1) have outscored their opponents by a 25-7 margin. Goalkeeper Brian Mirman is a big reason why with seven shutouts this season.

6. KELLENBERG GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

The Firebirds won the varsity “A” race at the Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational with 43 points. Brianna Lausebran ran 19:41 and placed third.

7. MANHASSET GIRLS SWIMMING

Claire McNeary swam county qualifying times in the 200-IM (2:14.16), the 100-backstroke (1:02.51) and the 100-butterfly (1:01.60) as Manhasset beat Port Washington and Great Neck South and Great Neck South in Conference I.

8. KINGS PARK GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Eight matches, eight sweeps. The Kingsmen are well on their way to another postseason run, led by Erika Benson, Meagan Murphy and Haley Holmes.

9. KELLENBERG BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

The Firebirds won the varsity “A” race at the Six Flags Wild Safari Invitational last weekend. Joshua Michel and David Lozipone finished second and third, respectively, both running 16:28. Francis O’Brien ran a 16:43 and finished sixth.

10. OCEANSIDE FOOTBALL

The Sailors are off to a 4-0 start behind an exciting offense and quarterback Tommy Heuer. They’ve beaten Massapequa and Farmingdale.
