Cox goal in 3rd OT wins it for Bay Shore

Carly Cox scored on a feed from Catherine Schmidt in front of the crease with 1:29 left in triple overtime to give Bay Shore an 8-7 win at Floyd in Division I girls lacrosse Tuesday. Kyra Harney scored two goals, and tied the game at 7 with four seconds left in the second OT for the Marauders (12-2), who clinched the No. 2 seed in the Suffolk Class A playoffs. Caroline deLyra scored three goals, including the tying goal with 2:16 left in regulation. Courtney Murphy led Floyd (11-3) with three goals, including the go-ahead goal in the first OT.

St. John the Baptist 19, Kellenberg 16: Giulianna Rizzotti, who finished with three goals and one assist, scored back-to-back goals a little more than a minute into overtime to give St. John the Baptist (6-5) an 18-16 lead in CHSAA. The Cougars clinched third place in the postseason. Vicky Lasala tied the game at 16 with less than a minute left in regulation for SJB. Danielle and Morgan Jaycox and Jill May each scored four goals, and Kaitlyn Montalbano had three goals and three assists. Sarah Croutier and Keira Heneghan each scored five goals for Kellenberg (5-6).

BOYS LACROSSE

Comsewogue 7, Islip 6: Pat Menendez scored with 2:28 left to give Comsewogue (14-0) a 7-5 lead in Division II. The Indians clinched the top seed in the Suffolk Division II playoffs. Connor Russell sparked Comsewogue, which led 5-2 at halftime, with two goals and one assist. Ryan Brunet and Tom Hughes each scored two goals, and Connor Duddy had three assists. John Maher led Islip (11-3) with two goals and one assist.

Babylon 8, Rocky Point 7: Steven Loudon (two goals) scored the winner eight seconds into overtime for Babylon (6-8), which trailed 7-4 after the third quarter. Andrew Hurst (two goals, one assist) scored with a minute left in regulation to tie the game at 7. Nick Santorelli added two goals and two assists, and John Sutherland made 13 saves. Chris Yannucci led Rocky Point (3-11) with two goals and one assist.

Massapequa 16, East Meadow 5: Senior Dylan Sheehan had a career-high seven points (four goals, three assists) for Massapequa (9-1). Dan Muller added four goals, and Ian Lukaszewicz had two goals and three assists. Sean Hinchy led East Meadow (4-6) with two goals and an assist.

Uniondale 12, Herricks 5: Antoine Williams scored four goals with two assists for Uniondale (4-6). Sterling Waters added three goals, Deon Ellis had a goal and three assists, and Donte Fyffe and Elijah Shabazz each scored two goals. Thomas Graef led Herricks (1-9) with three goals.

Locust Valley 14, Mineola 7: Sophomore C.J. Paniccia scored three goals in his first career start for Locust Valley (4-4) in Conference IV. Chris Appell led the Falcons with four goals, and Tom Nastasi had three goals and one assist. Tyler Burhens made 10 saves. Nick Fabiano led Mineola (3-5) with three goals and one assist.

BOYS TRACK

Merriwether doubles. Wesley Merriwether of Copiague won the 1,600 meters in 4:40 and 3,000 steeplechase in 10:35.7 at the Christopher Urban Invitational in Copiague. Jarrick Ambrose of Copiague won the 100 in 10.9 seconds, and Deer Park's Robert Prescia won the 800 in 2:06.0. Andrew Bylicki (Deer Park) won the discus with a mark of 168-0.
