Owen Skeete emerged as one of Long Island’s best, taking sixth overall, the highest among Long Island runners, at the Federation championships. He finished fourth overall at the Nassau Conference championships, ran a career-best 15:47.9 in the 5K at the Nassau state qualifier and placed first at the Suffolk Officials meet in October.
Won the Nassau Coaches Invitational, and ran to a first-place finish at the CHSAA Intersectional and a third-place finish at the NSCHSAA League championships. Slattery placed 13th at the Federation championships and first at the Nassau Coaches Invitational.
Panetta earned his stripes taking third at the St. Anthony’s Invitational, third at the Nassau Conference championships and second at the state qualifier. He was 14th at the NYSPHSAA Class AA state championships.
Saavedra capped a fine high school career with an eighth-place finish at the NYSPHSAA state championships. He ran to first-place finishes at the Suffolk Coaches Invitational, the Suffolk Division championships and the state qualifier.
Great Neck South
Siegel came into his own this season, with the highest overall finish of any Long Island runner — seventh — at the NYSPHSAA state championships. He wont the Nassau Conference championships and was a third-place finisher at the state qualifier.
