Coyne clinches tennis win for St. Dominic

Kiera Coyne defeated Meg McGlynn, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2, in second singles to clinch the match as St. Dominic beat No. 5 St. John the Baptist, 4-3, in the first round of the CHSAA girls tennis playoffs. No. 4 St. Dominic (3-5) plays No. 1 Our Lady of Mercy at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Nassau Country Club.BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Roosevelt 33, Island Trees 27: Erin Parker had 216 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries to lead Roosevelt (5-1) in Nassau IV on Saturday. Parker also had a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown. Senior middle linebacker Manny Jones had a career-high 21 tackles. Island Trees is 1-5.
