Dowling College will no longer play host to the remaining high school playoff games scheduled.
Dowling staff received emails Tuesday explaining that the college, which has its main campus in Oakdale, will close for good on Friday after a recent history of financial issues.
The Dowling Sports Complex in Shirley will close as a result, leaving the remaining Long Island high school playoff games scheduled at the facility without a venue.
High school games will not be played at the complex beyond Tuesday night, according to Don Webster, executive director of Section XI.
Baseball regional playoff games were scheduled for Thursday and Saturday, and girls lacrosse Long Island championship games were scheduled for Sunday.
Section XI has not announced a new site for either sport’s playoff games. Section XI baseball chairman Gregg Wormuth said the search officially would begin Wednesday morning.
“There’s enough good parks and good people around the county that would like to host,” he said.
