Dwyer sets Garden City assist record

Senior Devin Dwyer had two goals and one assist Wednesday as Garden City topped Wantagh, 12-5, in Nassau Conference II boys lacrosse.

According to Garden City coach Steve Finnell, the assist gave Dwyer the school record of 194, surpassing the mark of 193 set by Peter LeSueur in 2001.

"He sees the game on a different level," Finnell said. "He makes other guys around him better, and he's been doing that for four years."

Liam Kennedy had four goals and Pat Berkery had two goals and two assists for the Trojans (8-0), who won the Conference II championship.

Led by Eugene Berkery, Scott D'Antonio, Ed Blatz, Kyle Skramko, Tom Wright, and goalie Dan Marino, the Trojans held Wantagh (7-1) scoreless in the second half.
