Newsday's All-Long Island boys fencing team 2015

Meet the athletes who made it onto Newsday's All-Long Island boys fencing team for the 2014-15 winter season.

Long Island Boys Fencer of the Year

Commack, Sabre, Senior

Brian Huang, who is headed for Johns Hopkins University, won his third straight individual county title in sabre and went 35-1 in dual meets this season. He also won gold at the Jeff Wolfe Holiday Tournament and helped Commack finish in second in Suffolk County.

Mike Antipas went 28-0 in dual meet competitions to go undefeated for the third straight season. An “A”-rated fencer by the United States Fencing Association, he also came in second in the county individual tournament.

Bennett Cohen won the Nassau epee title, and at 14, he is one of the youngest fencers in the country to earn an “A” rating from the USFA.

Thomas Ferrante won the county individual title in epee and went 38-2 in dual meets. His 38 wins led all boys fencers and his winning percentage (95%) was fifth.

Patrick Gao won the Nassau title in sabre and helped Great Neck North win its first team county championship since 2005.

Kody Horiuchi won his second straight Nassau foil championship and went 27-0 in dual meets this season. He went 89-15 (an .856 winning percentage) in his varsity career.

Charlie Wells won the Suffolk foil championship and went 33-2 in dual meets. His 33 wins tied for third most among boys fencers in Suffolk.

Calderaro led a Blazers team that went 14-1 and won its first county championship since 2005.
