Groneman's OT goal gives East Islip field hockey win

Alyssa Groneman scored the winner on a feed from Laura Hill 54 seconds into overtime to lead East Islip in a 2-1 victory over Bay Shore yesterday in Suffolk Division II field hockey.

Hill also scored the first goal of the game for East Islip (11-2). Sara Fuchs scored with 11:30 left in the second half to force overtime for Bay Shore.Bayport-Blue Point 3, West Islip 2: Briana Rubenstein scored with 5:33 left in regulation to give Bayport-Blue Point (7-6) a 3-1 lead in Division II. Martina Tinnirello scored for West Islip with 2:43 left in the game. Rocky Point 3, Shoreham-Wading River 2:Annie Kennedy scored with 5:57 left in overtime to lead Rocky Point (7-5) in Division III. Facing an 0-2 deficit at the half, Alyssa Milano scored two goals for Rocky Point in the second half, including the tying score with 15:22 remaining to force OT.Friends Academy 5, East Meadow 0:Alix Heffron had a goal and an assist for Friends Academy (9-3-1) in Nassau Conference II.
