Joel Aleman scored on a 1-yard run late in the fourth quarter to cap a 75-yard drive that started with 1:47 left in the game and gave Whitman a 35-32 win over Smithtown East Saturday in Suffolk II football. Mitchell Bermudez completed two passes for 54 yards on the winning drive for Whitman (2-2). Bermudez had 19 carries for 198 yards and three TDs and Aleman had 17 carries for 122 and two scores. Whitman totaled 334 rushing yards. Berthin Lindor had 10 tackles, Rick Dormeus had seven tackles and two sacks and Terrell Legros added five tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery in the win. Smithtown East is 3-1.
Riverhead 42, Half Hollow Hills West 9: Jeremiah Cheatom had 205 yards rushing on 19 carries and two TDs for Riverhead (3-1). Quinn Funn had four receptions for 71 yards and three touchdowns. Joe Napoli had 10 tackles and Mike Von Bommel had nine tackles in the win. Half Hollow Hills West is 0-4.
Smithtown West 35, Copiague 0: Logan Greco ran for 192 yards and two TDs to lead Smithtown West (1-3). Kyle Mathie had two catches for 58 yards and a TD and had two interceptions. Smithtown West took control immediately as Greco scored with a two-yard TD plunge on the Bulls' opening drive. Andrew Lapreziosa added 62 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Defensive end J.J. Foley had seven tackles, including two for losses, and defensive end Nick Crespo had a sack. Copiague is 0-4.
West Babylon 40, Centereach 34: Pat Murrell scored on a 4-yard TD run with 4:24 left in the game and Chris Lubin ran in the two-point conversion to cap the scoring. West Babylon's Clifton Melhado scored on a 37-yard run with three seconds left in the third quarter to cut Centereach's lead to 34-32. Lubin rushed for 223 yards on 19 carries and scored three TDs. Scott McDevitt had 12 tackles to lead West Babylon (2-2). West Babylon trailed 34-19 in the third quarter and Lubin's 8-yard TD run sliced it to 34-25. Centereach is 0-4.
