Suffolk II roundup: Bobby DiCapua kicks winning FG for West Islip

Bobby DiCapua kicked a 20-yard field goal with 48 seconds remaining to cap a 70-yard drive and lead West Islip over Huntington, 20-17, in Suffolk II Saturday. The drive was set up by Max Albanese’s interception for the Lions (3-0). Dominic Sagginaro had 11 carries for 107 yards, including a 42-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, making the score 17-14. Rich Racanelli caught a 32-yard pass later in the third, setting up a 32-yard field goal by DiCapua to tie the score.

Riverhead 12, Smithtown East 7: Christian Pace completed nine passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns to lead Riverhead (2-1). Dean Koukounas had two catches for 79 yards and a touchdown and Tommy Powers added a 16-yard touchdown catch. Riverhead had six total sacks, Darnell Chandler and Tyjon Hawkins had two apiece. Lawrence Bishop led Riverhead with seven tackles.

Half Hollow Hills East 32, Newfield 14: Drew Martin rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries to lift Half Hollow Hills East (3-0). Martin opened the scoring with a 70-yard touchdown run. Hills East led 19-0 at halftime following a Martin 32-yard touchdown scamper in the second quarter. Kendall Nero-Clark hauled in two receptions for 50 yards, and set up Martin’s second touchdown with an interception at the Newfield 41-yard line with eight minutes remaining in the first half. Nyrel Sevilla added eight carries for 55 yards and had a sack. Jay Spinelli completed four passes for 77 yards. Martin’s brother, Brett, had a 33-yard touchdown run on his only carry of the day to extend the Hills East lead to 32-7 in the fourth.

Centereach 42, Bay Shore 7: Alec Kiernan ran for 146 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries and had a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for Centereach (3-0). Kiernan also had 10 tackles. Liam Webber ran for 55 yards and a touchdown and quarterback Jay Morwood ran for a 42-yard score and completed five passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns.

Deer Park 28, Copiague 16: Keshaun Jones ran 32 times for 168 yards and two touchdowns to lead Deer Park (1-2). Marlon Manigat rushed 21 times for 179 yards and Vincent Tavella ran 19 times for 133 yards and a touchdown. The Falcons combined for 504 rushing yards and controlled the clock in the second half, and had the ball for 21:13. Rayshion Bienaise had a rushing touchdown and an interception for Deer Park.

North Babylon 54, Smithtown West 6: David Estrella rushed 26 times for 275 yards with five touchdowns as North Babylon (3-0) had 489 rushing yards in Suffolk II. Ross Tallarico (58 yards), Schuyler Valensky (34 yards), Davante Manragh (40 yards) each had a rushing touchdown in the win. North Babylon’s Anthony Sobotker added 72 yards rushing and made six tackles. Estrella had three tackles and three sacks. Daniel Mistretta was 6-for-7 on PATs.
