Legagneur, Escaldi help SJB hang on

Christian Legagneur scored on a 9-yard run to cap the opening drive in overtime, and Salvatore Escaldi stopped the potential game-winning two-point conversion after Mount St. Michael got within one as St. John the Baptist (2-3) held on for a 28-27 win in CHSFL yesterday. The Cougars led 21-0 in the third quarter before Mount St. Michael scored 21 points to tie the game and force overtime.

Legagneur rushed for 101 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. Sean Cavanagh added 25 rushes for 228 yards and a touchdown.

Holy Trinity 52, Cardinal Spellman 0: Will Corchado ran for 138 yards and two touchdowns on six carries to lead Holy Trinity (4-0). Corchado also returned an interception 46 yards for a touchdown. Umari Taylor had 12 carries for 168 yards and two touchdowns.

St. Anthony’s 48, Holy Cross 21: Julian Chung had five carries for 68 yards and a touchdown and added a 41-yard touchdown reception to lead St. Anthony’s (4-1). Greg Campisi completed 5 of 11 passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns.

Long Island Lutheran 33, St. Dominic 6: Josh Fogg completed 14 of 17 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns and ran 8 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns to lead Long Island Lutheran (3-4) in non-league. Nessiah Swinson caught seven passes for 106 yards and a touchdown, had a sack and blocked a punt, and Brendan Allen caught seven passes for 149 yards and a score.
