Egan sparks SJB defense in win
Nicholas Egan recovered a fumble and made an interception as St. John the Baptist forced eight turnovers in a 26-13 CHSFL win over previously undefeated Christ the King yesterday. Frank Guidice returned a fumble three yards with 1:38 left in the second quarter to give the Cougars (3-3) a 19-13 lead. Sean Cavanagh scored on a two-yard run with 2:34 left in the fourth. Cavanagh rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns.
St. Anthony’s 29, Monsignor Farrell 23: Heron Maurisseau O’Neil’s 49-yard touchdown catch with 8:23 left capped a comeback from a 23-0 third-quarter deficit for St. Anthony’s (5-0). Maurisseau O’Neil hauled in two of the Friars’ four second-half scores. Tyler Palminteri’s 1-yard touchdown run after Nick Espada’s interception cut the deficit to 23-21. Espada picked off another pass, setting up the winning score.
Port Washington 22, Peekskill 0: Jajuan Curtis caught a 60-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Kaypour in the first quarter and ran in a 50-yard touchdown in the fourth to lead Port Washington (2-5) in non-league. Curtis had 148 yards on 12 carries.
Chaminade 42, Fordham 27: Frank Tangredi had 116 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries, and Liam Dvorak made four field goals and four extra points to lead Chaminade (4-3) in non-league.
Kennedy Catholic 28, St. Dominic 24: Sam Mediavilla had 10 carries for 110 yards and two scores for St. Dominic (0-4).
