Clifton Melhado threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Nick Gilley with 57 seconds left in the game to cap a 90-yard drive and Connor Filiberto kicked the extra point to give West Babylon a 29-28 win over Half Hollow Hills West yesterdat in Suffolk II. Gilley, a sophomore, was brought up from the junior varsity this week. Nick Brower intercepted a Half Hollow West pass with six minutes left to set up the winning drive. Scott McDevitt made eight tackles for West Babylon (1-2). Hills West is 0-3. Smithtown East 41, Copiague 6: Billy Noke rushed for 110 yards on 13 carries and three TDs and John Daniggelis ran for 90 yards and two TD on eight carries to lead Smithtown East (3-0). Noke and Daniggelis each ran for a touchdown in the first quarter, and Peter Triolo returned an interception 25 yards for a score to put Smithtown East ahead 20-6 after one. Noke and Daniggelis each ran for another touchdown in the second quarter and Noke added one in the third quarter. Mike Kavanagh had eight tackles and Dennis Lestrange added seven tackles. Copiague is 0-3.
West Islip 42, Smithtown West 27: Sam Ilario accounted for six total touchdowns for West Islip (3-0). Ilario went 6 of 12 passing for 205 yards and three TDs and also rushed 19 times for 107 yards and three scores. Nick Aponte had three receptions for 107 yards and two scores. Aponte also had two interceptions and had nine tackles. Smithtown West is 0-3.
East Islip 40, Centereach 0: Matt Walter rushed 10 times for 102 yards and three touchdowns to lead East Islip (3-0). Casey Nolan went 15 of 21 for 200 yards and ran 13 times for 65 yards and two touchdowns. Dan Hayden had two tackles for a loss and a forced fumble. Centereach is 0-3.
