This is the last game for Hansen Award candidates to strut their stuff, as the committee will vote this week, after the weekend’s first round of playoff games. Four players, all in Division I, enhanced their candidacy with big games last week — Mike Andreassi, Stacey Bedell, Mike Pellegrino and Steve Skon. Their performances are noted in my Top 10 list.

I am on the committee that selects the Hansen Trophy winner and have one of Newsday’s votes, but this list is not intended to influence other voters. While there are some candidates who are stronger than others, it won’t be an easy choice. Players are presented alphabetically not in order of preference.

Zog’s Top 10

Mike Pellegrino, Connetquot. The senior running back/linebacker ran for 277 yards on 34 carries with four touchdowns in a 28-21 win over Commack. Pellegrino has scored 17 touchdowns.
