John Daniggelis leads Smithtown East over Newfield

John Daniggelis found Billy Noke in the end zone for a 23-yard touchdown with 9:09 remaining to lift Smithtown East (4-1) to a 14-7 win over Newfield (3-2) in Suffolk II Saturday. Daniggelis ran 12 times for 50 yards and a score and completed 2 of 8 passes for 34 yards. The Bulls recovered three fumbles, one of which set up the game-winning TD. Dennis Lestrange had 14 tackles and a sack and Sam O'Malley added seven tackles and a fumble recovery.

Smithtown West 16, Whitman 0: Austin Kern completed 5 of 6 passes for 170 yards, including a 40-yard TD pass to Michael Baiardi in the third, and ran for a 3-yard TD to lead Smithtown West (2-3) over Whitman (2-3). Logan Greco had 21 carries for 81 yards. Daniel Cox had 11 tackles, Frank Brier had eight tackles and two sacks and Ryan Keenan had an interception.

West Islip 42, Copiague 6: AJ Ilchert threw for a TD and ran 14 times for 70 yards and a score to lead West Islip (5-0) over Copiague (0-5). Nick Aponte and Sam Ilario each added rushing TDs. Aponte and Kyle Ziegler led the defense with five tackles each.

North Babylon 21, West Babylon 7: Melijah Purvis cut right, broke two tackles and cut back toward the middle to score a 35-yard TD, capping a six-play drive, with 2:46 left in the third to give North Babylon (3-2) a 14-7 lead on Friday. Purvis finished with 21 carries for 174 yards and 3 TDs. Jordan Myers added 11 rushes for 115 yards. Matt Grassa had seven tackles and one of the Bulldog's four interceptions. Jake Conner had two picks.

Hills West 20, Centereach 6: Josh Connor rushed for 224 yards and two TDs on 26 carries to lead Hills West (1-4) over Centereach (0-5) on Friday. Connor opened the scoring three minutes into the second, as he took an option pitch and ran for a 50-yard score. He added a 30-yard TD out of the wildcat in the fourth. Randy Davis had 14 tackles and Hassan Benitez added seven tackles.
