Matt Vezza lifts Locust Valley to overtime win

Matt Vezza scored on a 1-yard run on a fourth-and-goal play in overtime as Locust Valley overcame a three-TD deficit in a 28-22 win over East Rockaway in Nassau IV football yesterday.

East Rockaway (1-4) had a chance to answer Vezza's score, but Louie Jokinsky, who returned a punt 64 yards for a score earlier in the game for Locust Valley (3-2), stopped the Rocks' on a fourth-and-goal from the 1 to seal the victory.

Davie Perkins completed a 6-yard scoring pass to Ryan Paniagua with two seconds left in regulation to force OT for Locust Valley. Perkins completed six of 11 passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns, and Paniagua had four receptions for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Clarke 16, Island Trees 13: Andrew Eannucci ran for 100 yards, with a rushing and receiving touchdown to lead Clarke on Friday night. Island Trees rallied for 13 points in the fourth, but Clarke's Austin Cerism, who had had three tackles and a sack, intercepted a pass with 30 seconds left.Mineola 21, Cold Spring Harbor 14: Vinny Bieniek scored on a 13-yard run with 9:45 left in the fourth quarter to win it for Mineola (3-2) on Friday night. Brian Gaffney had a 1-yard touchdown and 12 tackles for the Mineola defense, which stopped Cold Spring Harbor on a fourth-and-goal play with eight seconds left in the game.
