Mellen throws 4 TDs to lead Sewanhaka past New Hyde Park

Jake Mellen completed 13 of 18 passes for 292 yards and four touchdowns to lead Sewanhaka in a 53-28 win over New Hyde Park on Saturday.

Elijah Smith caught three passes for 160 yards and a TD, and Jacques Francois had five catches for 76 yards and two TDs for the Indians (2-3). Brenton Mighty ran for 140 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 40 yards.

Vladimir Cange had nine tackles and a fumble recovery and Mike Parasconda had 11 tackles. New Hyde Park is 0-5.

Lawrence 35, Hewlett 20: Junior Jordan Fredericks, in his first start at tailback, ran for 267 yards and two TDs on 24 carries to lead Lawrence (4-1). After getting possession with 23 seconds left in the first half, Lawrence went 65 yards on four plays, with Joe Capobianco's 21-yard TD pass to Victor Mintz punctuating the drive as time expired. Hewlett's lead was cut to 20-14 after Capobianco ran for a two-point conversion.

After Lawrence forced a turnover on downs to open the third, Capobianco capped a five-play, 65-yard drive with a 4-yard TD run to give Lawrence a one-point lead.

Capobianco completed 7 of 13 passes for 130 yards and ran for 62 yards. Defensive end Melik Mavruk had nine tackles, including four for loss, to help prevent Hewlett from scoring in the second half. Defensive tackle Dimitri Samuels had seven tackles.

Lynbrook 26, Glen Cove 13: Joe Grossi's 11-yard touchdown with 11 minutes left in the fourth gave Lynbrook (4-1) the lead and eventual win over Glen Cove (3-2) in Conference III. The drive was set up by Quinton Herrmann's interception. With about five minutes left in the game, Glen Cove muffed a punt and Lynbrook's Nick Roepkin recovered the ball in the end zone to seal the win. Harrison Conn ran for 81 yards and two touchdowns on only three carries for Lynbrook. Matt Hargadon had a game-high eight tackles at linebacker and Kevin Lann added six tackles.

Floral Park 47, Valley Stream South 8: Brian Barry scored three total touchdowns to lead Floral Park (3-2) in Nassau III. Barry's first score came on an 18-yard interception return for a TD when he jumped an out pattern and ran up the sideline to make it 13-0 early in the first quarter. Barry caught an 8-yard TD pass from Connor Vidasolo later in the quarter as Floral Park led 27-0 after one. Conor Horan led Floral Park with 11 tackles and Cole Horan had 10 tackles with a fumble recovery and a forced fumble. Floral Park forced seven turnovers, and led 40-0 after three quarters. Valley Stream South is 1-4.

Division 21, Manhasset 0: Fred Gray ran for 187 yards and three TDs and had two interceptions to lead Division (2-3), which had 236 rushing yards. Renato Gamboa had seven tackles and two sacks, and Edwin Servellon had eight tackles. Jaron Vega was 3-for-3 on extra point attempts. Manhasset is 1-4.
