Had hoped to post this earlier in the day, but some technical problems prevented it. By now you all know how great the Oceanside vs. Uniondale game was, but here's some interesting matchups taking place tomorrow:

Saturday, Calhoun at Wantagh, 1:30 p.m. - Nassau II

Another possible upset here. No. 4 Wantagh has a first year head coach (Thomas Casey), is implementing a new offense and a new defense. Nick Mullen had a good 2010, passing for 12 touchdowns (three in the playoffs). But No. 6 Calhoun could build off some late-season heroics from 2010 and some late-season impressive play from QB Matt Brennan who threw for 518 yards and three scores in three games, including a playoff start.

Saturday, Floral Park vs. Hewlett at Hofstra, 3 p.m. - Nassau III

The big question here is Hewlett runningback Sam Martorella and whether he's fully recovered from a 2010 ACL injury. If he's back to form, this should be a Hewlett win. If not, Floral Park, with an experienced offensive line and Ronnell Jones (1300 rushing yards, 15 TDs), has a great chance to sneak in a Week 1 win.

Saturday, Island Trees at East Rockaway, 1:30 p.m. - Nassau IV

Sean Bohan runs the double-wing at QB and Anthony Tesoriero had 11 rushing TD's last season for a talented No. 4 East Rockaway team. Meanwhile, No. 6 Island Trees is heavy on seniors and is supposed to have a laser like focus this season. What better way to prove it than knocking off a higher ranked team in the conference? Mike Jeannetti can catch the ball and was 25-for-27 on PATs in 2010.
